Make new friends in Westhoughton at Talkin’ Tables initiative

Town mayor Deirdre McGeown opens the Talkin’ Tables initiative

A new “Talkin’ Tables” initiative has started in Westhoughton with the aim of bringing people together over a cup of tea.

The weekly event will run on Tuesdays from 10am until 11am at Thyme for Tea, on Church Street.

Town mayor Deirdre McGeown went along to the first event to officially open it.

Deirdre said: “I had the pleasure of opening the first ‘Talkin’ Tables’ event. What an incredible experience, people are invited to call in, chat and have a cup of tea in a safe and comfortable environment.

“Marjorie had an idea and she took action, getting people out in the right setting, talking, sharing stories and making friends. What an extraordinary woman who took a leap of faith with an idea and made it happen.”
