Westhoughton mayor Deirdre McGeown decorates cupcakes with senior citizens

Westhoughton mayor Deirdre McGeown spent an afternoon decorating cupcakes with senior citizens.

The town mayor joined Westhoughton Senior Solutions for an afternoon of fun with residents.

Deirdre, who is a keen baker, said: “What a wonderful and amazing afternoon I had. I bake and decorate cakes for fun with my grandchildren, not sure who enjoys it more - me or them - and so I put my experience to good use with the lovely ladies attending Westhoughton Senior Solutions who decorated cupcakes with buttercream flowers and ganache.

“I had a ball and I am sure the ladies enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did, given the chatter, smiles and laughter, best of all they took the fruits of their labour home in a presentation box to have with a cup of tea later. Thank you ladies for my fun filled afternoon.”

Senior Solutions later wrote on Facebook: “They really enjoyed the afternoon and the cupcakes looked amazing.”
