Plans to install a new lift in Daisy Hill railway station have suffered a set back.

The work should have been completed by August, however the tenders for the work have now increased above Transport for Greater Manchester’s original budget.

It’s now going back through TfGM to sort out more funding for the work.

Westhoughton town councillor Neil Maher said: “We live in the 21st century and a section of our community are being excluded from public transport.

“The wait for a lift has gone on for 30 years or more, so I really hope that Transport for Greater Manchester get on with the job.”
