Westhoughton community groups awarded grants

Friends of Eatock Lodge were one of the two community groups to receive a grant

Two community groups have been awarded £700 by Westhoughton Town Council to help towards the good work they are doing.

The town council, which is run by the Liberal Democrats, gave £500 to the Friends of Eatock Lodge for improvement works at the beauty spot.

£200 was given to the In Your Corner Brew Club, run by Daisy Hill resident David Bartle.

The club is a safe, informal space for men to come and chat, socialise or just chill at their own pace. The group says: “If you’re feeling lost, or lonely, going through something, or just want a place to come and keep yourself busy, meet new people, or get your mind off of day-to-day life - we’re here for you!”

The club meets every Monday from 6-8pm and every Thursday from 12-2pm at Daisy Hill Football Club. Free and open to all men 18+. A brew and a biscuit will be waiting for you.

Daisy Hill town councillor Gillian Wroe said: “These two groups do brilliant work for local people, so these grants are well deserved.”
