Westhoughton residents came together on Remembrance Sunday to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Town mayor Deirdre McGeown led tributes to those lost their lives in conflict, while town councillor and veteran Neil Maher attended the remembrance service in London.

Councillor McGeown said: “We had an amazing turnout from the residents of Westhoughton to honour the men and women who have fallen to protect our freedom.”

Councillor Maher said: “As a veteran and a member of Westhoughton Town Council, I had the opportunity and honour to be able to pay my respects to all those who have made the ultimate for our country at the Cenotaph in London.”
